The story so far

IceCap was built to solve a problem every IBM i shop knew too well: decades of mission-critical RPG, COBOL, and CL code running behind interfaces that hadn’t changed since the late 1980s. The conventional answer was to rewrite the applications. We refused to accept that as the only option.

Instead, IceCap intercepts the 5250 data stream itself and renders it as a modern, browser-based interface - without touching the underlying program. Your RPG keeps running. Your CL keeps doing its work. Your security model stays exactly as IBM designed it. Only the interface changes.

The first version landed with a simple promise: a web interface for an existing 5250 application in roughly ten minutes. That claim survived contact with reality, which is why customers across finance, insurance, manufacturing, wholesale, retail, and logistics have been running IceCap in production for years.

Where it is today

IceCap hasn’t gone anywhere - and it hasn’t stood still. Like its three other engines - IceBreak for web serving and applications, BlueSeries for multi-channel communication, and BlueNote for monitoring - IceCap has been reborn as an engine of Sitemule: the screen-transformation engine that powers Sitemule Workspace, turning 5250 applications into responsive web experiences, exposing them as web services, and orchestrating multiple screens into entirely new workflows.

Nothing you rely on goes away. IceCap remains a separately installed product and will continue to be fully maintained and supported - exactly as you know it today. Same engine, same conservative principle - change the interface, not the application - same team, same phone number, same contracts, same invoices from System & Method A/S.
