If you've heard of ZipSeries - or you've been using it for years - you're in the right place. We're System & Method A/S, the Danish software company that has built and supported ZipSeries from the start.
ZipSeries was built to solve a problem every IBM i administrator knows: how do you move objects, programs, and entire libraries off the system cleanly - with all IBM i security intact, without manual SAVOBJ juggling, and without installing software on the target machine?
The answer was a native IBM i tool that compresses objects directly to a standard ZIP file on your PC. The receiver gets a self-contained package - full-object security, recommended installation values pre-filled, and an optional installation program that runs automatically when the restore completes. Professional distribution for IBM i applications, in a format that travels.
ZipSeries has always come in two editions. The Free Edition covers the core ZIP and restore workflow and has no time limit and no license cost. The Professional Edition adds advanced install-shield features: preset restore values including host name, IP address, user profiles, and library assignments; a CL program triggered post-restore; and the option to brand the restore experience with your own poster and hyperlink.
For many IBM i shops, ZipSeries is simply infrastructure - it's always been there, it works reliably, and nobody thinks about it much. That's the highest compliment you can give a distribution tool.
ZipSeries hasn't gone anywhere. Still available in a free edition. Still supported. Same team, same phone number, same contracts, same invoices from System & Method A/S.
One thing to be clear about: ZipSeries is not part of the Sitemule platform. While our four flagship products - IceBreak, IceCap, BlueSeries, and BlueNote - have been reborn as the engines powering Sitemule, ZipSeries stands on its own. It does a specific job, it does it well, and it doesn't need to be part of a suite to do it.
But ZipSeries has a next chapter too - and we'd like you to help write it. We are working on a modernized version of ZipSeries, and we invite everyone using it today to submit input and wishes: features you'd like to see, workflows you'd like smoother, anything you've been working around for years. You know the tool best - tell us what its next version should do. → Send us your input
And if your IBM i environment is changing more broadly - modernization, new interfaces, new integration, new development workflows - the story of what we're building with Sitemule is worth a look.
ZipSeries is a lean tool that does one thing without ceremony:
ZIP an IBM i object, program, or entire library directly to a PC - no IBM i installation required on the receiving end, no manual SAVOBJ/RSTOBJ steps.
Retain full IBM i object security through the save and restore cycle - authorities, user profiles, and object ownership travel with the package.
Pre-fill installation values in the Professional Edition - host name, IP address, library, user profile - so the receiver restores to the right environment without manual configuration.
Trigger a CL program post-restore for automated setup steps after the library lands on the target system.
Brand the restore experience with your own poster and link in the Professional Edition - useful for software vendors distributing IBM i applications to customers.
Distribute via any channel - email, download, USB stick, or CD.
The Free Edition covers the core save-and-restore workflow with no license cost and no expiry.

ZipSeries is a product of System & Method A/S, founded in 1989 in Denmark. Our software is presented today under Sitemule - a platform that modernizes IBM i and brings a web-centric approach to the business applications running on it. All our software is developed specifically for IBM's midrange platform lineage - AS/400, iSeries, i5, System i, and Power Systems - and the operating systems that have run on it: OS/400, i5/OS, and IBM i.
Still the only native web and application server built to serve the web directly from RPG and COBOL on IBM i - without middleware, and without rewriting a line of business logic. Twenty years on, we're still refining it
IceCap transforms 5250 green-screen applications into modern web interfaces - without touching a line of code. Now an engine of Sitemule. By System & Method A/S.
From fax to SMS, from FTP to NemHandel - every business communication channel, driven natively from IBM i. No middleware between your applications and the world
Built to watch every job, message, and subsystem on IBM i - and to act on them the moment something breaks. Alerts to your phone, auto-recovery built in, no external tools required

Managed IBM i hosting from System & Method A/S - 24/7 monitoring, zero-downtime migration, IBM service agreement, CO2-free. Now presented as Sitemule Cloud.
